The Power of Makeup…

I’ve been meaning to do this for such a long time but never got round to it. I did actually attempt it a couple of times and then forgot I was only doing half my face and ended up filling in the other eyebrow or something like that.
I’m a big advocate of feeling comfortable in your skin and I’m not afraid to not wear makeup in public, infact I do it quite a lot. I love makeup, I love the transformation and I love trying new things and searching for new products however that doesn’t mean I wear it everyday, sometimes, I just wanna stay in bed for an extra half an hour and if I’m just going to work, who cares?! Plus, it’s nice to give your skin a little break, and YOU GET TO RUB YOUR EYES WITHOUT SMUDGING MAKEUP EVERYWHERE. (It’s the little things in life, right?)
I absolutely love this picture, the difference we can make to our faces just by adding a few products to strategically placed areas is amazing. Whilst you can tell I’m still the same person, it really does make the world of difference. Not solely to the way we look but also to our confidence. I see so much online about how unhealthy it is that people are unable to leave the house bare faced which may be true for some. The majority of us, however just want to feel that little bit more ‘pretty’ (whatever that means). Why shouldn’t we be allowed to even out our skin tone and put fun colours on our eyes, lips and cheeks? And why should women be criticised for it? Just because we choose to wear makeup, doesn’t mean we’re self loathing, ridden with insecurities and fake. It just means we’re embracing our natural beauty and giving ourselves a little boost.
What do you think?!

  1. I love seeing what people look like before and after make up, I think it's a little bit magical to see how it transforms them and expresses their personality. There's such a different to your eyes before and after, especially your lashes!

I don't think I've ever thought “wow that's unhealthy” when someone tells me they couldn't leave the house without make up haha, it's just personal choice! Some people would never wear jeans, or maybe they don't like wearing skirts, but who cares?! It's not unhealthy, just who they are as a person.

  2. I couldn't agree more with everything you've said here. I'm very happy leaving the house without make-up on – I do this most days actually – but I just love love love going to town with make-up, so if I fancy it, I will. At the end of the day, we should be able to choose how we want to look and why – it's our choice. 🙂 Wendy xx
